We were halfway through stripping the forms off the footers this morning when we got an urgent call from our inside man at a local trim shop.  Each week the wood shop generates a ton of rips and off-cuts of fantastic wood that they usually bundle up and sell for fifty bucks. He already had somebody lined up to take the wood, but they bailed at the last second leaving them with a giant pile that they were counting on getting out the door.

Somebody had to step in and help them out. And, of course drop off a 24 pack of Miller High Life and a 12 pack of Dr Pepper to generate some good will.  We got a ton of gorgeous Spanish Cedar that we hope to clad a few walls with in our new house that will bring a rich, tactile and almost sculptural element to whatever wall they end up on.
