Congratulations on the new BoD post. Could the leadership track be far off?

How large is the BRHBA? What are your major promotions each year?

Great to see the HBA is involved with lessening hunger in your area. Are there other regular charitable or other philanthropic efforts made each year by the association?

Jeff,

I'm starting a kitchen remodel soon and were planning to use a Rohl Fireclay apron front sink again and noticed you used one for your new kitchen. Whose did you use and what were your reasons for choosing that sink? Just curious.

Also, how do you & Joey like the soapstone so far?

I'm just hoping Eleanor has another way to get out of her play loft than through that trap door in the linen closet above ;-) and that you have a way to get in there to rescue her when necessary... but that was probably just another nod to Jefferson that you didn't show the secret parental access.

Good to see you are all moved in to the new house. I'm looking forward to hearing more about the realization of the zero energy/PassivHaus goals as you go through your first winter.

I can't believe that I was watching you dig the hole Monday noon and now on Wednesday evening I am reading that you have already poured the foundation. I was actually worried about rain washing it all away before you started building. I had vision of mud running down the street. I guess I shouldn't have been worried. You must have a terrific crew. I am looking forward to seeing the plans as well as the finished product of House Number Eleven. Totally amazing Latitude 38. Nice shot of an earlier house [don't know what number] in the background.

Did someone forget to rotate these pics? ;-)

I don't know if you recall extending an invitation for me to stop by after my planned visit to the Solar Decathlon in DC this year, but it was a very gracious offer and would have been pretty well timed, less than a week before your hard hat tour. In any case, I was a bit too pressed by something I haven't had to deal with much over the past few years... work. We have actually become a bit busy; not by the standards of 6 or 8 years ago, but compared to what we've become used to over the past 3 or 4 years anyway. As a result I decided to cancel my road trip to DC and therefore missed seeing all of the good work you've been doing in Charlottesville in addition to missing the Decathlon for the first time since '05.

It must be pretty exciting as the completion of your new passive house home draws to a close. It has been fun to follow along with the blog posts, although those seem to have become a bit less frequent. Daily posts was a very ambitious idea, so if they become weekly it still works for those of us following your progress. It will be fun to see how the piano sound board works in the... was that the powder room?

Your comment about the color in the guest room made me think of letting you know what happened to the strange visitor you met via an email and to whom you extended a welcoming invitation. I still hope to get to visit Charlottesville some day, maybe next Spring, and check out some of your work a bit more first hand. Thanks again for your generous invitation and for sharing your building experiences with those of us following along in cyberspace.

Fiberglass doors seem like a new thing, but they’ve actually been around for a while. Therma-Tru, a pioneer in the fiberglass door business, started manufacturing fiberglass doors in 1983. therma tru doors offer the strength of steel and the warmth of wood without the drawbacks of either. Wood warps, splits and cracks. Steel dents and rusts. Fiberglass doesn’t have any of these limitations.
