Building on this tight lot required taking down a 250 SF block structure and getting permission from the neighbor to access the lot without taking out established hedges, a cedar tree and a magnolia tree. The result was a house that looked like it had been nestled in the site for many years and provides the homeowner with significant privacy on a busy street. With Buckingham Slate countertops and Appalachian Sustainable Development wood floors, we combined local materials with a modern touch to create a unique home nearby to UVa, grocery stores, coffee shops and Washington Park.
